A couple hammocks, a couple tarps, and a whole lot of slack line, and we’re ready for 4 days at Loft Mountain Campground in Shenandoah National Park. As you can see, my hammock nook is about as tidy as my bedroom.
Even the creepy-crawlies were pretty…
…but nothing compared to the many scenic overlooks on the Appalachian Trail.
Hike down to the waterfalls for a bath and some yoga before heading back uphill. Be sure to whittle yourself a walking stick if you’re prone to panting like a dog.
Find a rainbow along the 105 miles of Skyline Drive. We took a drive just after a rainstorm, so this was a welcoming sight through the quiet calm and eerie fog.
Turn a rock ledge into your dinner table. Enjoy a beer you can’t get in your home state.
